This is my thrid night on-call at the hospital, and I'm feeling rather underwhelmed. Of the total 24 hours that I've spent and over 20,000 patients that have come through, there have only been three calls. I haven't even heard a peep tonight since I started at 4 PM.
In one sense, all this is well and good. People not dying, doctors and nurses performing their jobs well, and keeping getting healthy are all great things. But I'd be nice to get to see some action around here. I mean, I've been sitting in the on-call room for the last half hour just debating whether or not this was a worthy thing to blog about.
In the meantime, I suppose I'll just try to get some sleep. Knowing my luck, the beeper will go off nonstop once the clock hits 1 AM.
